Requirements for each Certificate:

Plane camping with private pilot certificate

Private Pilot Certificate

The Requirements for the Private Certificate are as follows:

  • 17 Years old (16 to solo)

  • A knowledge test

  • Minimum of 40 hours of flight time which must consist of:

    • 20 Hours of flight training from an authorized instructor

    • 10 Hours of solo time

    • 5 Hours of solo cross country time

      • One cross country to an airport at least 50nm away

      • One cross country to 3 airports, with 150nm total distance

    • 3 Hours of night time (No solo night time required)

    • 3 Hours of flight solely by reference to instruments, or hood time.

Instrument Rating

  • A knowledge test

  • 50 Hours PIC cross-country time

  • 40 Hours simulated instrument time

    • 15 simulated hours must be from a CFII

  • One 250nm cross-country on an IFR flight plan, with an instrument approach* at each airport

    *New regulation states this does not have to be 3 different types of approaches anymore!

 
how to get commercial rating certificate

Commercial Certificate

  • 18 years old

  • A knowledge test

  • 250 Hours flight time

  • 100 Hours PIC

  • 50 Hours PIC cross country

  • 20 Hours flight training

  • 10 Hours simulated instrument

  • 10 Hours training in Complex or TAA aircraft

  • Two 2-hour, 100nm cross countries with an instructor

    • One at night time

    • One during the day time

  • One 300nm cross country with landings at three airports, with one point being 250nm from the departure point

  • 5 Hours night in VFR conditions

  • 10 Hours Solo Time

  • 10 Take off and landings at an airport with an operating control tower

 
how to become a flight instructor

Flight Instructor

  • 18 years old

  • A Commercial Certificate

  • Spin Training

  • Minimum of two knowledge tests - FOI and FIA
